Department Shoulder Patch

The patch worn by Madrid officers was created in October 2001. It represents the heritage of Madrid. The black background represent the coal industry, which contributed to the establishment of Madrid. The inverted triangle flanked by two American flags represents the three nationalities that settled in the Madrid area; Italians, Swedes and Croations, all coming together as new Americans. The bald eagle head represents the police department and it's vigilance "To Serve and Protect".
